PSYCHOLOGY

Taking this class, the last two years have been very challenging as well as rewarding. Throughout the course I have developed a lot of skills that have demonstrated to be useful not only during class but also in my day to day. My experience in IB psychology has been very special to me, mostly due to the environment of the class, meaning the bond I created with my classmates and the trust that we all feel between us. It was definitely one of the most challenging class, but with challenge comes reward and  even though I cried my way through the last two years, I can honestly say that it has been my favorite class, not only because of the knowledge I'll walk away with but mostly because of the people I got to share this experience with. 

Overall I can say that my experience in this class was a rollercoaster, but I wouldn't want it any other way.   

Which feelings or memories do I remember while thinking about the evidence? 

I remember feeling excited about making this project because I thought that the idea was cool and different, it was also the first Tiktok that I ever made. I also remember that I had this whole vision and I took so much longer than I expected to film everything. I was so tired after I finished the Tiktok and I thought that making a Tiktok would be easy but it wasn't. 

How can this particular evidence help me in the future? 

I think that this evidence will help me in the future in different areas, for instance how to portray and communicate an idea creatively. I also consider that it will be helpful in how we understand and try to communicate anything, in such way that it can be understood by a bigger audience.

RATIONAL

THINKING

The aim of this project was to make a Tiktok video demonstrating what we learned about the thinking processes and irrationality, which we later had to relate it to the Covid situation.

How does this piece of evidence show the chosen IB Learner Profile Characteristic?

I consider that this piece of evidence demonstrates the IB learner profile characteristic of knowledgeable as we had to relate our work and what we had been learning to the current global situation. Through this I was able to understand the topic at hand as well as the global situation in-depth, which consequently helped with how we apply our understanding into a real life situation, providing deeper analysis and critical thinking.

 SENSE DEPRIVATION PRACTICE

Which feelings or memories do I remember while thinking about the evidence? 

I remember feeling useless at the beginning, especially because the first few days I decided to simulate paraplegia.  As the days passed by I started feeling tired and unmotivated. I remember that for one day I didn't speak and I found this app that spoke for me at the beginning it was very funny but as the day went on I just wanted to talk. It was definitely a challenge, but I remember that I learned a lot of thing and one of them was how to do thing on my own and finding solutions.  

Reflective 

The aim of this project was to have a physical impediment for a whole week, we had to keep a registry of our experience throughout the week and write about how we feel and our experience. 

How does this piece of evidence show the chosen IB Learner Profile Characteristic?

I think that this evidence demonstrates the reflective IB learner profile characteristic as I consider that while working on this project and even after we finished the assignment, I was able to think about my experience and how blessed I am to be healthy. I also think that it gave me a lot to think about, mostly things as my personality, my feelings, what I had to stop doing and also how different my relationship with others was. It was definitely a learning experience. 

What did I learn about myself while completing this evidence? 

I think that while working on this evidence I learned how I can be efficient and feel like myself in different ways. I also learned that I can be very hard on myself and sometimes I need to lower the expectations that I have on myself. Likewise, I have always been kind of a lone wolf, however while working on this evidence I remember feeling lonely so I learned that I am independent but that doesn't mean that I want to be alone.

Which challenges did I face when developing this particular evidence?

The challenges that I faced when working on this evidence I think that focused on how to approach the topics at hand through a different perspective. I also found that having a debate about a specific topic from the perspective of a person that you don't is so much more difficult because you have to think if what you say actually makes sense according to the perspective you are working with.

How can this particular evidence help me in the future?

I think that for the future this will help me understand different points of view and have an open-mind about different perspectives, how to deal with someone that doesn't necessarily agree with you and navigate that situation where your ideas might clash with someone else's. 

Digital Influence on Human Cognition 

(Character Discussion) 

The aim of this evidence was to choose a character and from that character's perspective answer some question and debate on the different concepts of digital influence on human cognition. 

Open-Minded

How does this piece of evidence show the chosen IB Learner Profile Characteristic?

I consider that this evidence demonstrates the IB learner profile characteristic of open-minded because we had to discuss about our characters perspectives but to do so we had to remain understanding and open to different perspectives.
