Artistic Response - Symbols in The Great Gatsby
The purpose of this project was to creatively portray some of the symbols found in the book The Great Gatsby. For this project I decided to use the song Empire State of Mind and use it to create my own version of the song were I mention different symbols.

How does this piece of evidence show the chosen IB Learner Profile Characteristic?
I consider that this piece of evidence demonstrates the IB learner profile characteristic of communicator as I was able to communicate what was required, in this case different literary symbols. I was able to do so in a creative way, in which my ideas are clear and I was able to express myself and the way I better understand things artistically.
Which feelings or memories do I remember while thinking about the evidence?
What did I learn about myself while completing this evidence?
I think that when creating this artistic response I learned that it is much easier for myself to communicate my feelings and thoughts through a creative outlet. Through this evidence I did not only learned that but also how much more fun I have when I am given so much room for creativity and consequently the opportunity to shine as a person through my work.
Likewise, I learned that sometimes I am way too hard on myself and very perfectionist. Sometimes my mind is clouded by all the expectations and big ideas that I am not able to actually complete and work on something good. So through this evidence I learned that not everything has to be perfect, and as long as I feel accomplished, then that's all that matters.
Whitman Poetry Project
Thinkers
In this project I tried to represent creatively the understanding of the themes and the imagery that Walt Whitman used in some of his poems. Particularly I used O Me! O Life! For this I created a Playbill poster, with the intention of representing a Broadway show.

Which challenges did I face when developing this particular evidence?
I consider that this piece of evidence demonstrates the IB learner profile characteristic of thinkers, as I was able to apply my creative skills and align them with the complexity of Whitman's poems in order to create something that could resonate with me and hopefully someone else. Moreover, I consider that this was somewhat of a difficult task given the complexity of all of the poems, and turning that into something critical that I could better understand where I was able to approach this work with a clearer mindset and create this piece of evidence.
How can this particular evidence help me in the future?
Persepolis - Creative Book Review
The aim of this project was to create a book review video. In our review we discussed the content of the Persepolis, the authorial choice, the themes of the book, and more.
Open-Minded
How does this piece of evidence show the chosen IB Learner Profile Characteristic?
I consider that this piece of evidence demonstrates the IB learner profile characteristic of open-minded because throughout our book review we had to consider the author's perspective and her culture, and how that can resonate with us as well as the cultural impact this book has on a larger scale.
Which feelings or memories do I remember while thinking about the evidence?
I remember that Wunsch and I stayed up till almost midnight working on our review and recording it multiple times because we couldn't get it right. I also remember being tired but having a lot of fun and laughing at everything we said.
How can this particular evidence help me in the future?
I think that this evidence will be able to help me in the future as it taught me to dig deeper into things that we don't necessarily see, but the meaning behind the little details, the motifs, why the author chose to do it in a specific way. I think this evidence will help me in the future in things such as using creative tools to learn and process complex questions and situations.
